Graduate Record Examination

The GRE is a major milestone for anyone looking to pursue a graduate degree, and we understand that preparing for it can be daunting. English Teacher

Purpose

  • Graduate Admissions: Measures a test-taker's readiness for graduate-level studies across diverse fields such as business, sciences, humanities, and engineering.

Test Sections

  • Verbal Reasoning: Evaluates comprehension, analysis, and evaluation of written material.

  • Quantitative Reasoning: Assesses math skills, including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis.

  • Analytical Writing: Measures critical thinking and written communication skills through essay responses.

Scoring

  • Verbal and Quantitative Sections: Scored on a scale from 130 to 170 in one-point increments.

  • Analytical Writing: Scored on a scale from 0 to 6 in half-point increments.

Test Format

  • Computer-Based Test: Administered on a computer at authorized testing centers worldwide.

  • Adaptive Testing: Computer-adaptive format adjusts question difficulty based on previous responses.

Frequency and Registration

  • Test Availability: Offered year-round in various locations worldwide.

  • Registration: Requires scheduling a test date in advance and paying a registration fee.

Preparation

  • Official Study Materials: ETS, the test administrator, provides official practice tests, study guides, and test-taking strategies.

  • Additional Resources: Various books, online courses, and practice materials are available for preparation.

Use in Graduate Admissions

  • Graduate Programs: Required or accepted by many graduate and business schools globally for admission consideration.

Score Reporting

  • Unofficial Scores: Available for verbal and quantitative sections immediately after completing the test.

  • Official Scores: Sent to designated institutions within 10–15 days after the test date.
